On April 26, Ambassador Davies hosted a group of female scientists, ranging from senior figures to Ph.D. students, from academia, government, and the private sector, to celebrate women in science and promote gender equality in science. Professor Geraldine Richmond, one of America’s most distinguished scientists, joined the roundtable and shared her experiences pursuing a career in science and overcoming barriers to advancement in her career. Thailand has had notable success in achieving gender equality in science, though social and cultural expectations continue to result in women being underrepresented in scientific leadership positions. Promoting inclusion and active participation by women in science is a priority for Thailand and the United States, as it enables our countries to empower our citizens, maximize our value human assets, and secure our economic futures.
