The fifth of the series is: “A Look Back at U.S. Presidential visits to Thailand”
In 1966, U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson became the first U.S. President to visit the Kingdom of Thailand. Four other U.S. presidents, including President Johnson, Nixon, Clinton, Bush and Obama, have since paid state visits to this oldest friend and ally in Asia.

President Johnson received an Honorary Doctorate in Political Science from Chulalongkorn University.
Their Majesties hosted a state dinner for President and Mrs. Johnson at the Chakri Throne Hall on October 28, 1966.
In 1969, President Richard Nixon visited Bangkok and was presented a key to the city by Mayor Chalit Kulkanthorn. In this photo, he was welcomed by His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej at Don Muang Airport.
