Ambassador Glyn Davies and Deputy Chief of Mission Peter Haymond were treated to an evening stroll around Wat Chai Wattanaram, along with members of our Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), on Wednesday, December 7. Under the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation, the World Monuments Fund and the Royal Thai Government are conserving Wat Chai and safeguarding it from future flooding. The site was ravaged by flooding in 2011. World Monument Fund conservators from around the world are on site to train Thai staff on the latest conservation techniques, including the use of eco-friendly materials.
