It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Petty Officer 1st Class Saman “Sam” Kunan, a former Royal Thai Navy SEAL who volunteered to help rescue the 13 youth soccer players and their coach trapped in the Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai province. On behalf of the American people, I extend my deepest condolences to his family and commend his true bravery and selflessness in service to his country.
