The U.S. Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report to the U.S. Congress was released in Washington, D.C. on June 28, 2018. The 2018 TIP Report assesses official anti-trafficking efforts of 187 countries from April 2017 through March 2018. In this year’s report, Thailand was upgraded from Tier 2 Watch List to Tier 2 in recognition of significant strides compared to the previous year.
“The 2018 Trafficking in Person’s report recognizes Thailand’s continuing commitment to combating human trafficking,” stated U.S. Ambassador to Thailand Glyn T. Davies. “The United States and Thailand have a robust and enduring cooperation on law enforcement, protection of victims and prevention of trafficking.”
The U.S. Government remains committed to working closely with the Royal Thai Government and the people of Thailand to address the great challenge of human trafficking. The 2018 TIP Report includes a number of recommendations for achieving further, sustained progress against trafficking.
