Ambassador Davies gave closing remarks at the first-ever Southeast Asia Cybercrime Judicial Workshop April 29. Speaking to an enthusiastic and engaged audience of 100 judges from 8 ASEAN countries (Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) as well as Bhutan, he spoke about the costs that cybercrime imposes on governments, businesses, and individuals, and emphasized the importance of international cooperation to combat this global criminal threat, pledging the support and partnership of the United States in dealing with cybercrime and cybercriminals. The three and a half day workshop was organized by U.S. Embassy Bangkok’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs office, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Thai Courts of Justice.
