Information for Visa Applicants Regarding Novel Coronavirus

As of October 1, 2020, the United States Embassy and Consulate General in Thailand resumed routine nonimmigrant visa services. While Embassy Bangkok and Consulate General Chiang Mai aim to process cases as soon as practicable, there is likely to be increased wait times for completing such services due to backlogs. The MRV fee is valid and may be used to schedule an interview appointment in the country where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment.

You may be able to renew your visa by mail, if you meet all the qualifications listed on https://www.ustraveldocs.com/th/th-niv-visarenew.asp. Please read all the information before submitting your application by mail.

U.S. Embassy Bangkok has also resumed processing most immigrant visa categories initially focusing on those applicants whose interview appointment was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Immigrant Visa unit will be in direct contact with applicants currently eligible to reschedule their interview appointment.
