On May 06, Ambassador Glyn Davies attended the graduation ceremony for the trilateral (U.S.-Thailand-Laos) Humanitarian Mine Action training in Sattahip, Thailand. This training focused on building capacity for instructors to train Thai and Laos demining personnel to safely dispose of dangerous mines in affected areas. The multilateral event was also attended by observers from the Vietnam and Cambodian Mine Action Centers. Ambassador Davies presented remarks, thanking the mine clearing instructors for their courageous service to make their world a safer place, and noted that, while mines are a legacy of conflict, humanitarian demining efforts promote peace and prosperity. The Ambassador closed by thanking the Thailand Mine Action Center, of which the U.S. is a co-sponsor, for hosting this positive regional training event.
