Exercise Cobra Gold 2015 is scheduled to be held in various areas throughout the Kingdom of Thailand February 9-20, 2015.
Exercise Cobra Gold is one of the largest multilateral exercises in the world and has taken place annually for more than 30 years. Cobra Gold 2015 (CG15), the 34th version of the annual exercise, will bring together 24 nations to focus on regional challenges and global security issues and promote international security cooperation and stability within the region. Cobra Gold will include an increased focus on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, with the aim of expanding regional cooperation and coordination on these critical challenges. The multilateral exercise will consist of a staff exercise, humanitarian and civic assistance projects, a medical symposium, noncombatant evacuation operations/transfer of Japanese nationals overseas, and a field training exercise.
The staff exercise will include service members from 16 nations participating in a multinational force staff planning team that responds to a simulated maritime security counter-piracy and humanitarian assistance scenario. 11 nations will participate in the humanitarian civic assistance projects designed to improve the quality of life and infrastructure for the Thai people, as well as to share medical best practices among local and military medical professionals. During the field training exercise, participants will conduct training designed to enhance interoperability and strengthen regional relationships. Additionally, there are six nations participating in the Combined Observer Liaison Team program.
