American English Live: Teacher Development Series 6

The American English team is pleased to offer American English Live: Teacher Development Series 6. The six online seminars of the series cover a variety of topics intended for teachers of English or future teachers of English around the world.  At the end of each event, participants will have the opportunity to earn a digital badge that verifies their participation. Viewing group hosts, Public Affairs Offices, and Regional English Language Offices also have the option to issue e-certificates for those who attend four out of six sessions.

Participants are also encouraged to register to join the associated Ning,  http://americanenglishwebinars.com,  to participate in discussions, view related materials, and find recordings.

The series will take place from September 04 – November 13, 2019.  These 60-minute sessions will be held every other Wednesday.  Participants can join the sessions by viewing the live posts through Facebook Live and Zoom according to the time table given below:

Though not mandatory, registration is encouraged.  Registered participants will receive email reminders with links to pre-session readings and online discussions. Prior to each session, registered participants will receive a reminder email with a Zoom link from americanenglishwebinars@elprograms.org.

The American English E-Teacher Program offers 8-week, online university-level courses in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) developed by U.S. educational institutions.

Candidates must:

  • Be an English language professional
  • Have strong English language reading and writing skills (minimum 525 TOEFL, 70 iBT, or CEFR B2). You do not need to submit the test scores
  • Be a citizen of the country in which you are living
  • Be living in your country for the entire duration of the AE E-Teacher term
  • Have regular and reliable access to high-speed internet connection
  • Be able to spend 10 to 12 hours online each week for the duration of the 8-week course
  • Be willing to be enrolled in a second or third course, if your primary choice is unavailable

The selected candidates will be contacted for phone interview.

These MOOCs will help pre-intermediate to intermediate level learners improve their English skills in five major career fields. Each MOOC is five weeks in length, and each has a different facilitated course start date. After the start date of the first facilitated course, the MOOC is open for enrollment.
