On June 6, Ambassador Davies joined Bangkok Governor M. R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, and representatives from 13 foreign embassies, the European Union, and the United Nations Environment Programme for a signing ceremony of the “Environment Performance and Sustainability Pledge” in Lumpini Park. This ceremony establishes the Bangkok Chapter of the Eco-Capitals Forum, a partnership between the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), diplomatic missions, and international institutions, to pursue and promote programs, policies, and projects aimed at improving environmental quality in Bangkok. BMA Department of Environment Director Suwanna Jungrungrueng presided over the ceremony, and Ambassador Davies presented remarks, highlighting the spirit of cooperation by working together on environmental initiatives, and the importance of bringing the diplomatic community into the global movement to make cities cleaner and greener. The Eco-Capitals Forum will help BMA to advance their key goals: Solid Waste Management, Increase Green Spaces, Energy Conservation, and Environmental Awareness Activities.
