In a visit to Songkhla province on April 28, Deputy Chief of Mission Peter Haymond and Mrs. Haymond interacted with Prince Songkhla University students and met with alumni of the Fulbright program. In order to achieve greater understanding of human trafficking and labor exploitation situation and Thai government’s efforts to address these issues, DCM Haymond also visited a shelter for male victims of human trafficking and the public-private partnership Fishermen’s Life Enhancement Center providing services for fishermen and seafarers. He also observed a fishing boat inspection at the Forward Inspection Point in Songkhla province, one of 19 forward inspection points (in addition to 32 port-in-port-out centers) established in 2016.
