Deputy Chief of Mission Peter Haymond joined well-known Thai Chef Ian Kittichai on Channel 3 Family’s Jaew program to introduce creative dishes made from U.S. potatoes. Chef Ian recently won the “Spud Nation Throw down” cooking contest at Potato Expo 2017 held in San Francisco. The Chef featured his wining dish – U.S. beef massaman curry. Deputy Chief of Mission Haymond also joined Chef Ian to introduce another creative dish combining Thai delicacies with U.S. high quality products. The Thai dessert called bua loy, made of the U.S. mashed instant potatoes garnered great reviews from the show’s hosts. Chef Ian’s East meets West cuisine is part of a U.S. Embassy program highlighting the value of strong Thai – U.S. ties in both business and culture.
