Deputy Chief of Mission Peter Haymond joined H.E. Dr. Teerakiat Jareonsettasin, the Minister of Education, and colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a welcome dinner for the Lower Mekong Initiative Frontiers of Science Education Workshop, being co-hosted by Thailand and the United States April 24-25 in Bangkok. The workshop brings together young science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education leaders from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam. Participants are learning about state-of-the-art teaching methods and sharing their own innovations. The workshop will also help them form a network for professional collaboration and mutual support for innovation and excellence in STEM education to prepare scientists and science-literature citizens ready to face the challenges and seize the opportunities of the 21st century.
