Chargé d’Affaires Michael Heath gave a keynote address at the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) September 5, during a ceremony to commemorate the heroics of those involved in the Seri Thai Movement during World War II. Key activities for the event include a nationwide student quiz competition, essay competition, and picture contest depicting the story of the Seri Thai Movement. The Chargé also paid his respects to Acting President of the Privy Council General Surayud Chulanont, who has presided over the event since its inception.
“The remarkable history of the Seri Thai speaks to us of hope and of heroism, and of the vital role that the friendship between our two countries has played in defending the freedoms we all cherish. May our two nations, which have been such close allies in both war and peace, continue to work together toward greater peace, security, and justice in all regions throughout the world.” – Chargé d’Affaires Michael Heath, Keynote Address
